Introduction
Key Stage 2 is where learners at Sunrise Virtual School move from learning to read, to reading to learn. Covering Years 3 to 6, the stage builds on the firm foundations of Key Stage 1 and stretches learners into greater independence, deeper subject knowledge and more confident thinking. They are taught the full British International Curriculum timetable — including Global Perspectives in the upper years — by teachers who bring their own subject expertise to every lesson.
The day follows a real school rhythm: assemblies, D.E.A.R reading, two major breaks and a Friday class hangout, all delivered live through the learner dashboard. Children log in, take part and hand in their work without needing a parent hovering over them.
The stage closes at the end of Year 6 with the Primary Checkpoint Tests in English, Mathematics and Science, marked against an international benchmark. The results give families and teachers clear, comparable feedback before learners move on to secondary school.
