At Sunrise Virtual School A level programs, senior students undergo a 2-year Advanced Level curriculum that offers an internationally-recognized route to top universities worldwide. A-levels are considered as a standard requirement of UK-accredited High School qualifications, and many leading universities favor A-level graduates who obtain good grades on this challenging course.
At A level, 16 to 18-year-olds are supported in every aspect of their learning so that they become independent, well-rounded individuals. Prior to starting the A-level course, candidates must select a combination of 3 to 4 A-level subjects, giving them the freedom to focus on their key strengths and interests in a fully personalized programme.
The students are well-prepared for long-term academic success with an exemplary education, outstanding international experiences, and the dedicated support of our passionate tutors. At A-level, students who know the area they wish to specialize in at the tertiary level can select related A-level subjects. In contrast, those who need more clarity on their future career paths can select an A-level subject combination that provides a broader scope for tertiary study. This is because A level provides specialist as well as generalist options to study.
Sunrise Careers Counselors have knowledge of the admissions criteria for the world’s most prestigious institutions, and assist our A-level learners in their transition. We give our students the best chances of attending world-leading universities.
Our students will be expected to choose a maximum of 4 subjects of study in Year 12 (AS) and 3 subjects in Year 13 (A-Level).
We will offer a range of subjects, primarily the ‘facilitating subjects’ – those most commonly required or preferred for entry into particular courses at universities.
The minimum IGCSE requirements for entrance to Year 12 fall into two categories: general requirements and subject-specific requirements. If a student wishes to enroll from the local Kenyan System, an average of C+ at KCSE is required. Students with lower grades are considered but might be required to sit for an entrance exam.
A minimum of 5 A* – C grades at IGCSE, which should include Mathematics and English. A good academic and behavioral record prior to entry.
A* – B grade in the subjects students wish to take at AS/A level
